The talent, experiences and commitment to a college’s mission, values and strategic goals influence the selection of a president. These same qualities with a shift in focus for different constituency translate into the foundation of qualities sought in leaders in corporate, nonprofit and elected officials. This week one of New Jersey’s independent university presidents, Dale G. Caldwell, MBA, Ed.D., Centenary University, was nominated as the gubernatorial running mate of Democratic candidate Mikie Sherrill.
A July 24, 2025, article in the Globe outlines his work in education, housing and economic development that led to his inclusion on a short list of candidates.
