Josue Chirinos ’20 did not have college in his sights, but a high school science teacher inspired in him a passion for biology. “Where I come from, not very many people go to college,” the Pasadena, Texas, resident explained. “After college, I hope to serve as a role model to children in my community as evidence that anything is possible.” Josue hopes to give back by becoming a pediatric surgeon. “Receiving an ICFNJ administered scholarship allowed me the freedom to stop working part time, giving me more time to focus on my studies and community service,” he said.
