Higher Education for New Jersey Veterans

Many Options for Veterans

New Jersey’s independent colleges and universities offer veterans many opportunities to further their education. Our 14 member institutions empower veterans to choose the setting that best fits their needs – size, location, culture, program offerings and more.

Affordable Degrees

Earning a degree at one of New Jersey’s independent colleges or universities is more affordable than you might think. Nearly all of our member institutions participate in the Yellow Ribbon Program. You may be able to enroll in your program and college of choice at little or no cost.

The Yellow Ribbon Program

A provision of the law that created the Post-9/11 GI Bill, the Yellow Ribbon Program enables approved institutions of higher learning and the Veterans Administration to partially or fully fund tuition and fee expenses that exceed the established thresholds under the Post-9/11 GI Bill.
You may be eligible for a Yellow Ribbon grant if:

  • You served an aggregate period of at least 36 months active duty after September 10, 2001
  • You were honorably discharged from active duty for a service-connected disability and you served 30 continuous days after September 10, 2001
  • You are a dependent eligible for Transfer of Entitlement under the Post-9/11 GI Bill based on a veteran’s service under the eligibility criteria listed above.
